Logan's Birthday Celebration - Part 3

So part three of Logan's birthday extravaganza continues with a two day trip to Albuquerque (about 2 hours east of us).
The first day we went to the park and had lunch, it was so sunny and warm! Then we walked over to Explora. If you never gone, check it out! It's really cool. But apparently we weren't the only ones who thought it was a good idea to go there, half of Albuquerque was there too! But we had fun exploring and playing out side on the playground and the sand boxes.

Later we checked in to the hotel and daddy and Connor went swimming. Poor Logan, the birthday boy, had a fever so he and mommy hung out in the hotel room snuggling and napping. For dinner Aunt Coco brought us Olive Garden for dinner which may or may not have ended up all over the bed thanks to clumsy dad. :o) Sorry maids!

The next day we got up bright and early, bundled up and headed to the Rio Grande Zoo. Connor loved the Elephants, the lions, and the gorillas, who were very fiesty and were fighting. Logan was a little afraid of the seals, who came right up to us to say hello.

Then we went to the botanical gardens and aquarium where we met Oma Tamminga. We had fun feeding the koi fish at the japanese gardens, eating lunch in the grass, seeing the sharks, eels and sting rays. Logan was very interested in the sting rays and could have sat looking at them forever.

Logan's Birthday Celebration - Part 2

On Saturday, March 10th we celebrated the first year of one very special little guy. Everybody was there to celebrate and even his cousins and Aunts and Uncle drove all the way from Bayfield, Co and Albuquerque to join us.
The theme was The Very Hungry Caterpillar as you'll probably be able to figure out. :)
 Caterpillar balloons
 Caterpillar cake
I put out ALL the foods that the hungry caterpillar ate. Unfortunately the hungry caterpillar wasn't the only one who got a stomach ache. Poor Connor threw up most of his dinner thanks to the stomach flu.
Sorry family!

Connor and I made butterflies out of snack bags, clothes pins, paint, googley eyes and pipe cleaners.

Logan loved all the toys he got for his birthday! Thank you everyone.

Logan's first birthday - Part 1

Logan's first celebration, of many to come, was celebrated last night with just our little family of four. We ate Logan's favorite dinner: mac-n-cheese (and sesame green beans, but he doesn't really care for those), we had strawberry cake with white chocolate buttercream frosting. Logan got his own quite large slice and was able to eat it faster than the rest of us.

Guess he likes cake. :o) Then he opened his present, with the help of big brother. A peg puzzle. On Saturday we'll have a party with all his family. Such a spoiled boy!

Logan's One!

It's hard to believe that it has been one whole year that we've watched Logan grow and boy has he!
Some fun facts about Logan:

  • Logan LOVES food.
  • Logan loves to climb on anything and everything and is not so good at getting back down, yet.
  • Logan now has four teeth, two on top and two on bottom. Bring on the steak! :)
  • Logan loves to play with anything his brother is playing with and gets very angry when he doesn't get his way.
  • Logan can now say: Mama, Dada, kitty, hi, hey, baba, nana (Connor), and sometimes "mine".
  • Logan loves walking if you hold his hands or if he has a walker. He can also stand next to things and let go, just for a few seconds.
  • Logan loves bath time and quite often, if the bathroom door is open, crawls strait for the tub and stands next to it and points.
  • Logan can now point at things he wants.
  • Logan has completely and utterly stole our hearts with his adorable smile and chubby little cheeks.

One Thousand Gifts - Week 1

One Thousand Gifts
We started this book for bible study and i love the challenge it presents: to think of 1,000 gifts or 3 gifts a day. "Not of gifts i want, but of gifts I already have." (Ann Voskamp) So each day I'm going to come up with three gifts or blessings that i'm thankful for until I reach one thousand. I dare you to try it too!

Week 1:
1. Warm sun while I sit at the park watching Connor make new friends.
2. Orange puckered lips of a very thirsty almost one year old.
3. Hazelnut coffee with good friends.
4. Connor telling me: "to just call me when you see a bear and i'll come protect you"
5. Smell of my sons' hairs after bath time.
6. Smell of fresh dill and the colors of the zucchini and lemons mixed together in my red dish.
7. New book of crossword puzzles.
8. Hearing the birds chirping in the morning and knowing Spring is on it's way.
