California June 2011

Thursday, June 9th we celebrated 10 years of marriage by driving into the night with a 2 1/2 year old and a 3 month old, taking us about 10 hours. We arrived to Dan's brother's apartment around 6:30 am Friday morning and immediately took a little boy (who by the way slept the whole time) to McDonalds for breakfast and then to see the ocean for the first time. I can still remember my time as a kid playing in the sand, running from the waves and the feeling you get when you stand in the water while it goes back into the ocean. Connor was a little afraid of the waves but quickly found comfort in his uncle Tim and knew that Uncle Tim would never let anything happen to him. I wish we could have had more time to play in the waves, but we will be back i'm sure!

Saturday was spent catching up with an old friend from high school, bachelor/bachelorette adventures, playing by and in the pool, rehearsing a wedding and eating some yummy burgers. Connor was so tired he crashed when it was his time to practice rehearsing being a ring bearer. :)

Sunday was the big day. Started out with church at Kevin and Ethel's church. Then onto brunch at the place all the rest of the Tammingas were staying. A quick look at the ocean and then off to nap time for the little ring bearer (He had an important job after all). The wedding was at this country club type place, very beautiful. Outside on the grass. The bride was beautiful to say the least. And the rest of us were pretty good looking too. The food was delicious. I wish i could have got more videos and pictures but I had a little baby in my hands most of the time. But they are memories that we will never forget. Oh and my husband gave the best best man speech ever. Hopefully somebody got it on video.

Monday was spent at LegoLand. Which if you have never been, it's pretty much awesome. A lot like Disneyland just a little bit smaller. And the newlyweds were brave enough to join us, which made it even more fun. There was the most amazing aquarium I have ever been to. And lots of fun rides for the kiddos to go on. To say we were pooped by the end of the day is an understatement!

Tuesday was more day of walking but totally worth it. We took the kids to the San Diego Zoo. Again Tim and Brittany joined us, aren't they the best? Connor especially loved seeing the Gorillas, where one was just inches away from our face as it walked by.

That night we left to go see my grandparents up in Tulare. What should have only taken 4 1/2 hours to drive took us 6 1/2 hours to drive because of crazy drivers and rush hour in both San Diego and LA. But it was worth it to see my grandparents and have them meet both the boys. Connor was a bit shy but soon warmed up to my grandma. He's not really used to Old men. :)

So the trip was a blast. We needed a few days after the trip to recover but it was all worth it. The memories will always be there and seeing the expression on Connor's face when he first saw the ocean was worth the almost 2,000 miles put on the van. :o)
