Connor's First Birthday Bash

It's amazing how fast the first year goes by! When they are first born you think they will never get past the stage of not sleeping through the night, or be able to roll over, or crawl, or hold their own bottle...the list goes on. But then overnight they are doing all these things and that little helpless baby that once needed you all the time is an independent little boy. But enough of this sappy mommy's ramblings.

The day after Halloween we had Connor's first birthday party. His birthday is not until the 3rd but we wanted to have it when all the family from out of town could be there too. What a day! First of all, parties are a lot of work. Especially when you plan too much. Thank goodness for my mom and sister who came over early to help otherwise I would not have been ready in time. My mom helped a lot with the bear cake. Nicole did the decorations, which turned out great! And the food was oh so delicious. There was fried ravioli, hot wings (from Dominos that i tried to convince people i made myself), and really delicious pizza that Dan made. The white pizza and Greek pizza were especially good! So good, even Connor loved it!

Connor had a blast opening presents although we was more into playing with the paper and tissue paper. He especially liked his Elmo card that sang happy birthday, every time it played he danced with it. Cake time was much fun and messy! He was a little intimidated by it at first but soon dug in and found it very delicious. (Click on Cake time to view video)
What a fun but tiring day, especially for Connor.

Halloween 09

This was Connor's first Halloween this year, so we were very excited about dressing Connor up and going trick or treating. Especially considering that last Halloween i was 3 days overdue and too tired and fat to get up off the couch! :/ So this year we were so lucky to have Dan's brother Josh and his wife Sarah and their daughter Arissa down from Las Cruces. Friday night we carved pumpkins, which turned out pretty awesome. Especially the cat that Josh did. Connor thought they were icky and was a little afraid to touch them.
On Saturday we dressed up the little bear and headed over to Dan's parents where we met up with Josh, Sarah and Arissa and the Baldanados to go trick or treating. I think we went a little too early because most of the houses we went to were boo humbugs. :) Also it was a little cold but so much fun! After trick or treating we headed back to the Tammingas where we were fed a delicious meal by Don. Such a fun day to remember for years to come!

Connor's First Camping Trip

So this past week was Dan's second spring break so we decided to not spend the whole break working on our yard and take a little trip down to Ruidoso, NM. Looking forward to meeting up with Dan's brother Josh and his wife, Sarah and our niece Arissa. So we packed up our stuff and headed out Thursday morning. We found a wonderful campsite close to Bonito Lake, and set up camp. That night we woke up to Connor screaming and realized he was very hot, took his temp and it was 101.7, gave him so baby Tylenol and kept an eye on his temp. It was a long night to say the least, we woke up every 30 minutes to a crying, unhappy baby. So Friday we called Josh and Sarah and said we would come to them in Las Cruces and leave for Gallup Saturday. So the trip was a bust, but we did get to see some beautiful sites and Connor did have some fun. Oh we also woke up to tons of deer Friday morning. They just wandered into the campsite and paid no mind to us. We had a lot of fun but maybe we will stick to going to the cabin for now.

Fiesta Success

So the party was a success! There was so much food that I didn't even get a chance to eat all of it! I left with a Mexican food coma. So I'm posting all the recipes on my other blog, check them out: http://visionsofsugar-plums.blogspot.com/ The rellenos were so delicious!

Fiesta

Went over to Don and Jenny's for breakfast this morning to have breakfast with them and Aunt Judy and Uncle Jim Ponstine. Connor is getting really good at rolling over, he hardly ever stays on his tummy when we do tummy time. Next step is going to be rolling over from back to tummy which he is really close to doing!
Making some beans today for my grandma's 75th birthday party. Yum! Also, making some guacamole, queso and green chili. I'm wondering if i should post these on my visions of sugar plum blog, or if i should only post sweet desserts?

New to Blogging

So I read somewhere that blogging is "in" and therapeutic so we shall see about that.
